Scripture Reading:
2 Chronicles 29 – Varios scripture – 1- 3 and 29-30 – Hezekiah Purifies the Temple
1 Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. 2 He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done. 25 He stationed the Levites in the temple of the LORD with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David and Gad the king’s seer and Nathan the prophet; this was commanded by the LORD through his prophets. 26 So the Levites stood ready with David’s instruments, and the priests with their trumpets. 27 Hezekiah gave the order to sacrifice the burnt offering on the altar. As the offering began, singing to the LORD began also, accompanied by trumpets and the instruments of David king of Israel. 28 The whole assembly bowed in worship, while the musicians played and the trumpets sounded. All this continued until the sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed. 29 When the offerings were finished, the king and everyone present with him knelt down and worshiped. 30 King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to praise the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness and bowed down and worshiped. 31 Then Hezekiah said, “You have now dedicated yourselves to the LORD. Come and bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the temple of the LORD.” So the assembly brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and all whose hearts were willing brought burnt offerings.32 The number of burnt offerings the assembly brought was seventy bulls, a hundred rams and two hundred male lambs—all of them for burnt offerings to the LORD. 33 The animals consecrated as sacrifices amounted to six hundred bulls and three thousand sheep and goats. 34 The priests, however, were too few to skin all the burnt offerings; so their relatives the Levites helped them until the task was finished and until other priests had been consecrated, for the Levites had been more conscientious in consecrating themselves than the priests had been.
3 In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the LORD and repaired them. 4 He brought in the priests and the Levites, assembled them in the square on the east side…5 and said: “Listen to me, Levites! Consecrate yourselves now and consecrate the temple of the LORD, the God of your ancestors. Remove all defilement from the sanctuary.
Sermon Title: The doors of the church are open
A member held up the line at the end of Sunday serve and deciced to block the exit because she wanted to understand her life purpose… Come to find out, she was celebrating her 25th birthday.. She had decided that she had reached the end of her secular life and wanted to begin a new life with her Father’s business (Jesus).. Everything you can do, you are not created to do… She wanted me to help her understand what God has called her to do… Why did God birth me on this planet and what purspose does God have to wake me up every morning…
Some point on your journey you should wonder what God expects you to do… He said he met with her later on and came to the conclusion that even though we are anointed for different assignments, but if the truth be told there is one Universal purpose.. Even though we may do different things in life, there is one purpose… The universal purpose for humanity is that we may worship him for his omnipotent presence that we may exalt his name and declare that this is day that the Lord has made, and we shall rejoice and be glad in it… . What shall I render unto the Lord for all God has done for me… Worship him… We were made to worship him in spirit and in truth… When you understand the universal call to worship.. You understand the specificity of who God is… If you read the bible God is particular when people gather in a building to worship…. The building is the vehicle God use to find our purpose and for us to lift up God’s holy name.. He is specific about what is going on in holy house of worship…
Worship is the theological correlation of incarnation… We have a God that sits in the higher heaven, that shows up in Holy places that comes to us.. It’s not God coming to us… Worship is to get into the realm of God in the realm of sacredness to worship in the beauty of Holiness… . I don’t come to church to feel bad, but I may be lifted up and my soul made better… I come to worship in the presence of God.. Church is an elevator that only has an up button… I need something to take me higher than I was when I walked in…
Frustration of finding a parking space, and get things off your mind is a part of the process to get you ready for worship…. God is so particular about what happens in his house toward worship…. We are a generation that have lost respect for the house of God… There are some things you just don’t do or say in church…. Some folks don’t even get to the parking lot without cussing and fussing… Some folks don’t even wear church clothes for church… If you can get fancy to go the movies with a man, etc… You can surely get ready to come to the house of God looking decent on Sunday morning… Worship is not a casual affair..
The house of God played a significant roll in the house of God… When the people had strayed from the house God, you looked to the house Of God because the house of God is suppose to be in order… When the house is in order the city, county and state will be in order.. .The house of God needs a model like Empowerment Temple to represent…. When the people of God begin to worship God we will change the world..
Whenever the Lord wanted to bring the people back, the Lord always brought a revival to fix the house of God…
Go home and read about Jehoshaphat…. Hezekiah, became King at 25… You have to understand who is Daddy is to understand who Hezekiah is… When Hezekiah became King God told him that you have to fix the house of God.. .He called this visionary young man to change the world … He had to fix three things in the church…
1) He repairs the doors of the house of the Lord… You will notice that in Jewish cultures, there were multiple entrances in the temple.. They were based on your gender, your economical status, etc… What door you went through depended on who you were… The doors were destroyed because only the people got in were the people that were not perfect… Hezekiah, could not worship in an environment where everybody was so sanctified and self righteous… Hezekiah wanted to open the door to people that have not always been perfect… People that just got out of jail, People that are HIV positive, etc. and people that really did not qualify to go through the doors of the temple (paraphrased)…
He wore his costume to school, and he told his mom that he had to take the mask off because he could not breathe, etc… He made that analogy to let someone know that you can take off your mask and be real… Thank God there is a door that someone like me can come through… He opened the doors of the church and the people started to come… When they came they started to bring an offerring… Bulls, rams… Etc.. The problem was that the number of sacrifices were greater than the number of consecrated priest… Now worship was in jeopardy because there were not enough consecrated priest… The one’s that needed to get Holy did not get ready in time… Some folks can’t get ready because they cannot distinguish between Jesus and their Pastor… You are sad if you don’t’ think the Pastor dont’ struggle with the same things you struggle with… Do not put your pastor on a pedal stool but put him on the alter because you need folks to pray for you too….. If by chance if the priest have some issues to deal with, you know that they go through things just like you…. You know we have a priest that sits on the right hand of the Father that is blameless and his name is Jesus…
Empowerment temple keeps going because they had some Levites in the house of God that declared that they were going to worship God no matter what is going on… They love the man of God, but we love Jesus more… Because when we think of the goodness of God and all that he has done for me, I can worship him by myself…
We had a guest preacher when I first started Pastoring my church…. I invited some preachers that were not on point, and his style was irritating and when he got to the end of the sermon he began to yell and his theology was off and his style was irritating… … There was a sister that was shouting rooting him on, and said just because the man preaching did not do his job, I’m gone do my job and praise God and open my mouth and give God some praise no matter who has the mic in their hand….
He fixed the doors of the church and the Levites began to come… They have come a long way for the out skirts of Jerusalem… They come a long way but they have not stop to think about what the Lord allowed to pass over them.. It was the Grace and Mercy of God that brought them… Hezekiah said lets have a pass over praise…. Stop and give God glory for all he has done and brought you through.. Every mountain God moved… Every mouth God shut… Stop and give God a pass over praise…. If there is anything in your life that you can think God brought you through… Give him a passover praise…. I need some folks that know how to praise and worship God…..
The bible says that they celebrated the passover in the 2nd month…. Biblical scholars that’s not passover time… That was the wrong time… They gave thanks when it was not Thanksgiving time… There are some people that don’t have to wait to worship or shout unto God because God has been so good that every now and then you should give God an unsolicited praise….
God need some folks that can worship him…. You can’t sit next to everybody… .I have done some oversees travel… When you meet a stranger oversees you give them the language test… They want to know do you speak my language… .Do you speak French, Etc… The next time you walk into Empowerment Temple give them a language test…. Say “Praise the Lord..”. If they don’t respond, go move somewhere else.. I need to sit next to someone that knows how to praise the Lord.. Glory Hallelujah!!! Look at your neighbor and say “I will bless the Lord at all times and his praises shall continuously be in my mouth!”

Happy birthday Ms. Bishop……
I’m gone serve him, because he is worthy to be served…
I can truly say to that “God is my roof top”… No matter where I am I know from the bottom of my heart that he is worthy to be served.. This song that we use to sing back the day ‘He’s my Rooftop says it all” Just listen up the lyrics and I’ve enclosed them for you to read as read.. God is so good.. Nothing deep on today, just thankful for all God is doing in all of our lives as a corporate body… In the book of Deuteronomy 32:30 it says: How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up? – Leviticus 26:8 says: Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. My last scripture that I read in Isaiah 30:17 says – A thousand will flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five you will all flee away, till you are left like a flagstaff on a mountaintop, like a banner on a hill.” – Let pull together and help one another… One man’s ideal can spark a nation!! Le’s get busy and allow God to be our rooftop!

“He’s My Rooftop” lyrics
Verse 1
For he’s my rooftop in the rage of the storm.
He’s my protector, there’ll never be no harm.
He is the bread that sits on my table,
My god can do it, he’s truly able.

I’m gonna serve him,
I’m gonna serve him,
I’m gonna serve him,
I’m gonna serve him,
Try my jesus, try him out,
He’s worthy to be served.

When i lived in an alley.
(he’s the good, good, shepherd),
That watches over me,
(he’s my hope, he’s my joy, he’s my victory).

Try my jesus, he will protect.
Why don’t you try him,
Try my jesus.
He’ll be your rooftop in the raging storm.

Renewing of your mind….
Romans 12:2 (NIV) 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
With all the pains and trials that life itself put us through, it’s good to know that we can stop and talk to God and ask him for help… I did on last night through great physical pain, as I continue to struggle over 20 years with a rare muscle disease that causes my mind to go haywire from time to time… Nevertheless, I ask God as I always do before I lay my head down to sleep to forgive me if I’ve done or said anything wrong or offended anyone…. In his word, it says that he is faithful and just to forgive us from all unrighteousness… We just have to stop and realize that there is no problem to big or to small for God to handle. God can handle anything that we throw his way. I often say that I’m so glad that God is not like man, he listens, he knows all, and he cares for me… In I Peter 5:7 it says to Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you…. I’m certain that he does, and continue to go back to drawing board daily to deal with the trial of life that present themselves sweet on some days and other days, I survive.. Those are the days that I want to learn to lean to God even more when it seems like the pain is to hard to bear…
I know I’m not the only one the world that deal with continues medical issues, but I do know that the God whom I serves continues to heal me and he looks beyond everyone one of my little faults and continue to recognize my needs which are far greater than any problem that I can present to God… God is and he is a problem solver, and he always give solutions to our every need…
Keep a sister in prayer as I continue to press on this journey called life… Love everyday because everydaywith Jesus is sweeter than the day before….

Judging Others
Bible Verses about Judging Others..
If we could only learn to love and help each other, instead of judging each other, what a wonderful world this would be?
Matthew 7:1-5 ESV
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Luke 6:37 ESV
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;
John 7:24 ESV
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
James 4:11-12 ESV
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
Romans 2:1-3 ESV
Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?
James 4:12 ESV
There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
Ephesians 4:29 ESV / 328 helpful votes
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Matthew 7:5 ESV
You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Romans 14:1-13 ESV
As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. …

Luke 6:37-42 ESV
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 ESV
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; …

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.
Romans 12:16-19 ESV
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Titus 3:2-7 ESV
To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, …

Galatians 6:1-6 ESV
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load. …
Galatians 5:22-6:5 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. …

1 Peter 3:8-12 ESV
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
1 Corinthians 6:1-6 ESV
When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, …
James 1:19-22 ESV
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Psalm 1:1-6 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; …

2 Timothy 2:24-26 ESV
And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

1 Peter 2:1-4 ESV
So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious,
Titus 2:11-15 ESV
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
2 Timothy 2:21-23 ESV
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
Psalm 15:1-5 ESV
A Psalm of David. O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change; who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
1 John 4:1-3 ESV
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
James 3:17 ESV
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-16 ESV
We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always,

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Isaiah 53:1-12 ESV
Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. …

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
1 Corinthians 5:12-13 ESV
For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
Luke 18:10-14 ESV
“Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
2 Peter 1:5-7 ESV
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
2 Timothy 3:14-17 ESV
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
Colossians 3:12-15 ESV
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
1 John 4:7-10 ESV
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Hebrews 10:25 ESV

But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

2 Peter 1:8-10 ESV

During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: “Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. …

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, the servant of the Lord, who addressed the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord rescued him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Proverbs 19:1-29 ESV
Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool. Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way. When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord. Wealth brings many new friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend. Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. …

There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. …
