Good versus Evil!

In the book of Isaiah, verse 5:20 (ESV) reads: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”

This scripture let us know that twisted minds have existed for centuries, and what I’m dealing with today has been dealt with by many in the past. Everywhere you go, you can find people with the same story that leaves one heart sad and makes you wonder why family, siblings and people in general cannot do right by one another? I’m glad you asked. There’s a lack of love being taught, greed, and wanting to be more than what and who they really are could be part of the problem, or just plain dishonest as I find with most. As Christians, we are to practice being honest and tasteful.

In the book of Romans 7:19-25 (KJV) says: “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

When I look at some of these pills I’m having to swallow as I speak are very difficult and are very hard to put behind me. My human side continues to war with my spiritual side, meaning that my natural self just won’t let it go, where my spiritual side or reasoning side says let it go and let God deal with it. In my experiences in life, I’ve gotten good results both ways; although, taking my hands off of the situation, and giving it over to God completely and removing myself from the equation got me BETTER results which is what I’m trying to do with my current situation I’ve been dealing with since the passing of my father coming up 3-years on December 22.

I’m not sure who wouldn’t want someone to come clean on their deathbed and fix their raggedy life and do what’s right? See, as Men and Women of God, we should practice living a clean and honest life, so when it comes to our final journey, we don’t have to try and fix things and situations from our death bed. Most of us know that being honest to most is way too much for some, because it’s too much like RIGHT. Nevertheless, we live and we learn. Learnbto do what is right!

One thing I do know is God takes care of his own. Right or wrong, good or bad, God dishes out the final say. It may seems as though dishonest people are winning, in reality they are losing because they have to remember the lies they told, and they are always walking around looking over their should feeling as someone is out to get them. WHY? Why on God’s green earth would someone want to live like that? My motto is: Do good, and good will return to you in some form or another. Do bad, intentionally and you will reap your reward as well. You might not like what’s coming, but you can rest assure, it’s coming. I pray as professing Christians, we can learn to love each other as commanded, especially family. Some family members make it really hard to genuinely love them. Nevertheless, I loves as commanded and keep going. Trust me, I’m not sitting around waiting on someone else’s demise, but like the old proverb says: YOU WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW! My message is: DO good, and LOVE one another for real, not just LIP SERVICE but in deed.

More Scriptures on good and evil to help us better understand:

Romans 12:21 (ESV) “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Genesis 3:1-24 (ESV) “Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” …

Psalm 37:27 (ESV)  “Turn away from evil and do good; so shall you dwell forever.”

Proverbs 3:7 ESV “Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.”

Romans 2:6-8 (ESV)_  “He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.”

Romans 5:3-5 (ESV) “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

1 Corinthians 15:33 (ESV)  “Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

Proverbs 4:27 (ESV) “Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.”

James 1:13-15 (ESV) “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.”

John 3:16 (ESV) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 16:33 (ESV) “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Galatians 5:16-17 (ESV) “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”

1 John 3:1-24 (ESV)  “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.”

Psalm 37:1-40 (ESV) “Of David. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”

Proverbs 17:15 “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord.”

Genesis 4:1-26 (ESV)  “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord.” And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground. In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground, and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. “
