Armed Services (Active and Reserve)

I’m a soldier in the ‘Army” of the Lord… If I die, let me die in the Army of the Lord…
(Exodus 9:1)
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

The military forces of a nation; “theirmilitary is the largest in the region”; “the military machine is the same one wefaced in 1991 but now it is weaker”

Active Guard Reserve (AGR) is a military program in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. The program puts members on full time active duty status so they can help the National Guard. They help with training, recruiting, administering, organizing, and instructing the Reserve Components. There are 17 ares that the AGR work in. These areas are: signal, recruiting, finance, transportation, medical service corps, public affairs, military police, quartermaster, aviation, civil affairs, chemical corps, army nurse corps, engineer, adjutant general, judge advocate general’s corps, military intelligence. You must be at least 18 and younger than 55 to be in AGR. You need to be ranked between SPC and SFC. You also need to meet the physical fitness standards they have in place. You will receive medical benefits, full retirement after 20 years of active duty, tuition and education assistance, and PX/commissary benefits. The Armed Forces Reserve Act of 1952 was a response to the severe weaknesses in the U.S. reserve forces and inequities for veterans revealed by the partial mobilization during the Korean War. Pressured by reserve and veterans’ organizations, Congress sought to improve reserve organization and most immediately to restrict the vulnerability of Korean War veterans to future service. The act established three categories of reserve forces—ready, standby, and retired—subject to different liabilities for mobilization. The most important of those categories, the ready reserve, was authorized a strength of 1.5 million personnel, including the entire National Guard. The ready reserve could be mobilized in a national emergency declared by the president. The act allowed individual reservists and Guardsmen to volunteer for active duty. That enabled the armed forces to use them in routine peacetime operations and contingencies without incurring the political and diplomatic risks associated with mobilizations. The act strengthened the influence of reserve and Guard officers in the military planning process.
