Planting Seeds For The Harvest

Continue to plant seeds of love, peace and good cheer! What a man soweth, he also reaps. There is no better feeling  than reaping  a good harvest! I have enclosed some scriptures below to help you better understand what I’m trying to convey. Most of us know that there’s a flip  side too to sowing seed. The bible states it plain! Do good, reap good; do bad and you just might reap just what you sow! So Please, be mindful where you sow, and what you sow. Sowing is more than just money.  Sow  some kindness and greatness into someone else’s life. There’s no  better feeling  to  hear the words Thank You many of years later from a seed you sowed! That’s what love is all about! Sharing and caring!

Minister Evelyn Diane

Matthew 13:30-35 (ESV) “Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’” He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.” All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed, he said nothing to them without a parable. …”

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Psalm 126:6  (ESV) “He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.”

James 5:7  (ESV) “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.”

1 Corinthians 3:6-9  (ESV) “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.”

John 15:1-27  (ESV)  “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. …

Jeremiah 17:8  (ESV) He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

Matthew 13:30  (ESV)  “Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”

James 5:7-11 (ESV ) “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

Hebrews 13:1-25 (ESV) “Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” …

James 2:24 ESV “You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.”

Sowing takes FAITH, and you must believe, and pray to make it happen! Sometimes, it just happens!! That’s the kind of God we serve!

Family is so important.. I have a story to tell…

Jesus holding a family

The number one general question most single mothers are asked by their child before the age of 10-years-old is: “Mommy, where is my Daddy? It’s unfortunate that at the time the question is being asked there is possibly no answer.

On the other hand, when you take your child to their pediatrician, the ultimate question you are quite frequently asked when you have a child ranging from an infant-to-10-years-old is: Is your child up-to-date with their vaccinations? Why do they ask? I’m glad you asked? See, getting your child vaccinated on time will help protect him or her against 15 vaccine- preventable diseases and build up their immune system.

Well, the same way the vaccines build up a child’s immune system, a good mother is on the other hand thinking of 15 different ways to survive to raise, feed and clothe her child alone while their character and identity are being built in those impressionable years of their life from 0-10-years old. Whether you realize it or not, those first ten years of life are so essential.

As I sat on yesterday with great joy with the three women that I spent the first 10-years of my life with before I met my father at the age of 10-years-old, I felt like my life had made a complete circle and some and brought me back to a place and reminded me when there was only momma and my two sisters. I was truly an impressionable lad. My mom was always active in her church and community and always teaching us about the Lord and how he delivered her from a bad marriage and how she overcame the death of her 4-year-old son that was tragically killed by a drunk driver. The struggle was real for her, but she made it all look so easy. My oldest sister was 11-years-older than I and she was always like a 2nd mother to me. She is and always will be our Educational Specialist in the family. She was the example of example for girls of her time. Smart, ambitious, intelligent, and just so beautiful from the inside out in every way. She was a high school cheerleader, she worked at the hospital as a secretary when she was a teen and she helped my mom with us. She would cook for us, take us shopping and made sure we were up-to-date in our dress, and she always made school look easy. I was taking notes. Then that big day came and she was getting ready to leave us at 17 or 18-years-old off to a brand new world in Brentwood, CA where she would be admitted into one of the finest colleges in the country (UCLA) where she went on to get her degree in economics landing a phenomenal career in banking where the girl was awesome with that all mighty dollar. I was watching.. She became the best mentor any young girl could possibly have to this very day. We were then exposed to new people, new adventures and great opportunities through people she would introduce us to. The girl had me at 11-years-old, my mom and my sister selling Amway Finest products and we did good! She even inspired my mom to further her education and I remember my mom and my oldest sister both graduating from college in the 70’s. My mother got her degree in Child development and went on and was determined to get them Real Estate license and she has she has been a Realtor approximately 40 years and a retired-school nurse. My mommy even sold my son his first house where she now resides in an upscale community. I’m not bragging, but I”m trying to paint a clear picture of the single home I came from. I have not even got a word in yet about my middle sister who is so dear to me too. She is responsible for that hair, makeup, fashion and she also is an Educated sister with her Masters in Business Administration. She help SPOIL all the children in our immediate maternal side of our family down to my grandchildren and she is my youngest son Justin’s God mommy. I mean the best in the world!! No exaggeration.

I am truly on an amazing journey and I just wanted to share with a single parent or parent that may be struggling with the first question I ask in my opening. Don’t worry or stress about it, give it God, do your part and let God have his way in you and your child’s life. See, the bible gives us instructions in Proverbs 22:6, and it reads
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” It’s simple and it’s true. God made all the difference in our lives. Just because your life does not seem perfect like everyone else, it’s still doable and you can make it!!!

I said all that to say this as I just wrote an insert for my book and life story: “Let My Baby Live” which will be filled with inspirations throughput my almost 50-year journey. Just because you don’t come from the traditional home, does not mean you cannot be a successful person. It took 10-years for me to accidentally run into my Father coming out of cleaners in North Long Beach, CA and our story began from there which was another unforgettable journey that entailed 38-years of my life up to his passing in 2013 that literally took my world apart. Little children need their Fathers too if at all possible.

However, the real journey was where it was at on yesterday with them “Bolden” sisters and Mother Bolden. That’s where it all began for a little old average girl like me!!!

That’s all I will release on today, but this story of my life is truly amazing, and it have not always been easy but it has been what God ordained for my life!!!

Judging Others

World In Focus International Ministries LOGO official

Matthew 7 (NIV)

Judging Others

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Ask, Seek, Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

True and False Prophets

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

There is life after death for those that are believers

World In Focus International Ministries on side of logoWhen our family, friends or someone we love and care about deeply transitions, it is never an easy process. Nevertheless, it should make the process easier to accept, find peace and comfort in knowing if they were saved and accepted “Jesus C.hrist” as their personal savior that they are at home safe in the arms of God.

We should rejoice and celebrate their life because in God’s word it tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

The apostle Paul appears to tell us that something better than our current lives, namely being in the presence of God, awaits us after death, when we depart from our bodies.

In the natural, it’s still rough for most of us to process, and for some, it takes a little time, but eventually we will get there. It seems like as soon as we accept one death, there goes another and it seems to never stop, convincing me that you must be ready when God calls your name!

My Testimony” – Marvin Sapp

Marvin Sapp singing “My Testimony” off of the CD I Win

So glad I made it,
I made it through
In spite of the storm and rain, heartache and pain
Still I’m declaring
That I made it through
See, I didn’t lose

Experience lost at a major cost
But I never lost faith in you

So if you see me cry,
It’s just a sign that I’m
I’m still alive
I got some scars, but I’m still alive
In spite of calamity,
He still has a plan for me
And it’s working for my good
And it’s building my testimony

So glad I made it,
I made it through
In spite of the storm and rain, heartache and pain
I’m still alive to say
I made it through

I didn’t lose
Experienced lost at a major cost,
But I never lost faith in you

I’m so glad I made it
So glad I made it
I made it thru
I made it thru
So glad I made it
So glad I made it
I made it thru
I made it thru
Oohh,

So glad I made it
So glad I made it

I made it thru
Ooohhh, so if you see me cry
It’s just a sign that I’m, I’m still alive
I got some scars, but I’m still alive
In spite of calamity
He still has a plan for me
It’s working out …..

Just because the adversary said I could not do it!

World In Focus International Ministries LOGO official

1 John 4

King James Version (KJV)

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Jesus is everything

According to the word of the Lord you will find in the scripture referenced below in the book of Hebrews that Everything belongs to God!

Hebrews 2:10-18

Contemporary English Version (CEV)

10 Everything belongs to God, and all things were created by his power. So God did the right thing when he made Jesus perfect by suffering, as Jesus led many of God’s children to be  saved and to share in his glory. 11 Jesus and the people he makes holy all belong to the same family. That is why he isn’t ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. 12 He even said to God,

“I will tell them your name
    and sing your praises
when they come together
    to worship.”

13 He also said,

“I will trust God.”

Then he said,

“Here I am with the children
    God has given me.”

14 We are people of flesh and blood. That is why Jesus became one of us. He died to destroy the devil, who had power over death. 15 But he also died to rescue all of us who live each day in fear of dying. 16 Jesus clearly did not come to help angels, but he did come to help Abraham’s descendants.17 He had to be one of us, so that he could serve God as our merciful and faithful high priest and sacrifice himself for the forgiveness of our sins. 18 And now that Jesus has suffered and was tempted, he can help anyone else who is tempted.

“Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. He looked at me and said, : “Would you be fool enough to agree with me and God that he is going to heal me?”  I said: “Yes Daddy I will, because I know you are a Man- of- Faith,  and he began to elaborate to me about the great bible story of “Hezekiah”, and he went into full details about Hezekiah’s  disbelief , and how God added 15 years into Hezekiah’s  life after he decided to trust God with his life. He then looks at me and said: “I believe that God is going to add 20 more years on to my life”  I stood in agreement with him that God would do just what Dad had requested and proceeded to take full control of his medical decisions as we began to go over his Final Five Wishes , which are referred to in the medical field as “Advance Directives“.  This document is in place so the patient can free willingly choose three people  that were capable of carrying out  the person’s desire to make quality care decisions of the patient’s  choice , when they are no longer able or coherent enough to  make rational decisions for themselves.  Advance Directives, entails the kind of medical treatment a person wants or don’t want.  How comfortable they want to be, and how they want people to treat them and what do they want my loved ones to know.  He did that, and as his health began to deteriorate rapidly, I took charge of most  of his health care decisions as Power Attorney number one.

There were times that he got temporary  breakthroughs, and  then he  was able to make some decisions for himself when he was at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Nevertheless, I would take the time discuss with him in detail what each modality consisted so he would understand and know about each decision he would make would entail. He said out of his own mouth, and it was written word-for-word on his five wishes, signed by him, and witnessed by two people that were not related to us that he wanted to fight the good fight of faith, and have everything done necessary medically that would help him to tough it out until  the  appointed time when God said, not man, it was his time to leave this earth, which is not our home.   We almost made through what he wished until his attending hospitalist ( doctor)  of his medical group  felt the need to move me out of his way, so he could convince Dad and his family that at this point that he had reached, that they felt strongly that  he should go to hospice.  They were offerring hospice when he was fully ambulating, and I made it clear and had it noted in the records that he was not interested at that time to go to hospice ever.  I want you all to know that I  fought down to the end by myself because he asked me too when he was in his right faculties to stand by him in faith and just believe God at his word.  I refused to take part in that part of the process sending him to hospice, but they did anyways and started the process without my signature as power attorney number one, and then and only then when things started looking bad at Earlwood Convalescent Hospital which is right behind Torrance Memorial.  I made a conscious decision by myself as power attorney number one  to have him transferred to Torrance Memorial to to do everything necessary for him to be stabilized to  carry out  all of his final five wishes, and they  were ALL fulfilled because I refused to take NO for an answer.

Nevertheless,  he did fight it out down to the end, and the day they decided to transport him to hospice is the day he died!!!  December 22, 2013.   They moved me out of the way, and refused to let me transfer my father from their facility at Torrance Memorial Hospital, and I was livid.  After which, they were walking around the hospital showing people and anyone who come to visit my Dad my picture as if I was going to harm someone for only wanting to be by my Dad’s side and carry out my father’s wishes.   This bizarre behavior on the behalf of a healthcare provider  is Unheard of ,  and I’m certain of that because I’ve been in the Medical Field for most of my entire career.  I was very upset at the fact that Dad was not capable at the time to say barely anything we could understand being that he had been on a ventilator induced into a comma for about two consecutive weeks.

If that was not bad enough, I had people fighting against me to carry out his wishes not working on one accord.  Yes, it got ugly the day before with a family member who said that my Dad had been dead to her two weeks ago because he slept on a ventilator in the day while he underwent several intense medical procedures.  What she did not know because she was too busy trying to create a story that I would describe almost down to the tee like Cain and Able.

Whoooo… Sigh of relief. Back to real matter which is Dad’s Faith and how he worked so hard to everything he could to stay alive with the care he had received.

For the most part, Dad  preached  the good fight of “F-A-I-T-H”  for over 50+ years of his entire life, and that  was his ultimate Gospel message that he mastered and preached and he never failed to take it to the cross, believing that Jesus, hung, bled and died for our sins and he rose on the third day with all power in his hands.

Rev. Thomas  (Dad) wanted no more and no less for souls to be saved and know about Jesus was what he lived for  all his life.. That is what he stood for and was really all about if you really knew him. He always made sure that NO ONE he came in contact went hungry.  He had a strong desire to work with the homeless ministry, making sure the less fortunate had food, clothes and shelter. Yes, he did just that in his lifetime!!!

Was he a perfect man?  No, but who can  you find that is completely perfect?  All I truly know is that he had a genuine heart for God and God’s people to be blessed. I serve notice to the world that “Minister Evelyn Diane Thomas”  can’t turn back now, because I have work to do in the vineyard, and I’ve come to far to give up or give in now. I must go on in Jesus name! Amen!!

dividerLet’s reiterate again the bible story he shared with me in the book of  Isaiah 38:5 – “New International Version “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.” Dad said from his own mouth after sharing this beautiful story of someone who once did not believe, but then started trusting God by Faith for who he really was and was certain about what God the Father was capable of doing.  It was known throughout the bible that Jesus went around performing many miraculous miracles.   God is yet still performing miracles today.divider

Faith Without Works Is Dead

Faith without works is dead

James 2:14-26

New King James Version (NKJV)

Faith Without Works Is Dead

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a]works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[c] 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d] And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. divider Posted by Minister Evelyn Diane Thomas D&T:  05/11/2014
